Everyone’s talking about mental health and wellness, but what does it actually take to build a more equitable vision of wellbeing for all?
A new two-episode series from Roadtrip Nation, Where Wellbeing Grows, explores that question by following three young adults—Anjali, Davida, and Raul—as they travel across the country to learn from leaders working at the intersection of mental, physical, emotional, and social health. Along the way, they discover something we know deeply at DC Greens: wellbeing doesn’t live in a single system. It grows through community, access, and opportunity.
We’re proud to share that Charles Rominiyi, DC Greens’ Manager of The Well at Oxon Run, is featured in Episode 2, “Fostering Compassion.”
At The Well at Oxon Run, wellbeing is something you can see, taste, and feel. It’s in the fresh produce harvested each season, the hands-on learning experiences, and the space itself, which is designed as an intentional, community-driven hub for connection and care in Ward 8.
In his conversation with the Roadtrip Nation team, Rominiyi shares how his work reflects a broader vision of health, one that goes beyond clinical care and recognizes the essential role of food access, green space, and community investment.
“Some days I’m planning strategy with partners, other days I’m in the dirt planting or talking with community members,” Rominiyi tells the roadtrippers during their visit to The Well at Oxon Run. “But every day is about helping the community stay healthy and supported.”
Throughout the series, Anjali, Davida, and Raul meet professionals across sectors who are reimagining what careers in wellbeing can look like. From public health to agriculture to community organizing, they explore how passion and purpose can come together to spark meaningful change.
“I’m excited that I got to share my story and experiences with these rising leaders,” Rominiyi says. “I hope our conversation inspires others to think bigger about what the future of wellbeing could look like and the role they can play in shaping it.”
Wellbeing isn’t built in isolation. It grows where people, resources, and community come together. And at DC Greens, we’re proud to be part of that work every day. We invite you to watch Where Wellbeing Grows and see how individuals across the country are working toward a more connected, compassionate future.
