As we gear up for the holiday season, DC Greens wants to make sure our community knows about the many resources available to boost your holiday experience. Here’s a quick round-up of organizations doing great work that you can tap into!
Bread for The City’s Holiday Helpings
Join Bread for the City’s Food team for this annual seasonal program designed to help community members resource their needs as we prepare to celebrate the holidays. Now in its 32nd year, Holiday Helpings provides a turkey (or a chicken), holiday fixings, and seasonal fresh produce during the month of November for thousands of DC families living on low income. New culturally inclusive meal bags will also be available.
How: Please bring a current DC ID OR picture ID with proof of DC residency within three months (lease information, mail with DC address, or current DC health insurance card). One per household, please.

The Martha’s Table Community Harvest Dinner is a yearly event that brings together community members, volunteers, and supporters for a shared meal, celebrating togetherness and the spirit of gratitude. The dinner features delicious food from local vendors, highlighting seasonal ingredients. It’s a time for neighbors to connect, reflect on the year’s achievements, and reinforce Martha’s Table’s mission of building a stronger, more resilient community through access to healthy food, education, and opportunity.
