It’s May! Flowers are blooming, plants are bearing fruit, life is hatching, and the weather is getting brighter with each day. In May, we also take time to show appreciation to our mothers and to the mother figures who have made an impact on our lives.

To celebrate the love and care they show to us, here is a smoothie recipe made just for her. What better way to show your appreciation for someone than by making them a delicious, healthy treat?

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup of strawberries (frozen or fresh)
  • ¼ cup of blueberries (frozen or fresh)
  • ¼ cup of raspberries (frozen or fresh)
  • ½ of a banana (frozen or fresh, but fresh is recommended!)
  • ½ cup of Greek yogurt
  • ½-¾ cup of milk of your choice (may need to add more)
  • Desired amount of granola (optional)
  • Desired amount of chia seeds (optional)

Tools:

  • Blender

Instructions:

Step 1: Prep ingredients for blender

If you have frozen fruits, letting them thaw out a little before adding them to the blender will make it easier for the blender to crush. If you have a fresh banana, dice the half that you are using (I suggest placing the other half of the banana in your fridge for future use). Mix your fruits together so it is easier to add to the blender.

Step 2: Build smoothie

Layer the blender with fruits, yogurt, and milk. Do this until you’ve used up all of your ingredients.

Ingredients layered in the blending.

Step 3: Add optional ingredients

Add your desired amount of chia seeds and granola to the smoothie’s top layer.

Step 4: Blend!

Blend your smoothie until desired consistency is reached. For a smoother consistency, add more milk.

Step 5: Share and enjoy

You did it! Your smoothie is ready to be shared.  Enjoy!
