The Well at Oxon Run is young. We mean that literally: we only celebrated our second birthday last summer. We still have a lot to learn and many neighbors to meet. Earlier this month, The Well at Oxon Run team visited a new hydroponic farm that lives at Covenant House, called OurFarm DC.

OurFarm DC is a nonprofit that helps schools and community organizations across the D.C. metropolitan region access their own produce through high-yield, high-tech hydroponic farms.

Mike (the man behind the scenes) and his operation are also new to the area. OurFarm DC has been living at Covenant House for just over a year but has already begun the work of connecting to the community and making sure that a percentage of the produce grown is donated to nearby organizations providing fresh, accessible produce to our neighbors. He has partnered with DC Central Kitchen, Martha’s Table, and hopes to continue building a network of support in our neighborhood.
