As the government shutdown impacts families across the District, we know that many D.C. residents are facing new or increased barriers to accessing food. Whether you’re navigating a temporary loss of income, supporting loved ones through a tough time, or simply trying to stretch your grocery budget a little further, we want you to know: you’re not alone.

DC Greens’ Produce Rx team recently released our updated Food Resource Guide. This guide isn’t just for Produce Rx participants — it’s for anyone in D.C. who needs help finding fresh, nutritious food.

The guide includes a wide range of food access options, many of which are open to all D.C. residents regardless of income or program eligibility.

Below are just a few of the resources featured in the guide that can support you or someone you care about.

If you or someone you know needs support accessing food, we encourage you to explore the full Food Resource Guide. It includes additional options for seniors, families, and those enrolled in Medicaid, as well as tips for extending the shelf life of fresh produce through freezing.

Healthy food is a human right. No one should have to choose between meals on the table and paying rent or purchasing groceries. Let’s continue to care for one another, share what we have, and build a food system that works for all of us.
