DC Greens is proud to announce Luisa Furstenberg-Beckman, MPH, Food Is Medicine Manager, has been selected as a 2026 Food Leaders Fellow by Food & Society at the Aspen Institute.
The Food Leaders Fellowship is an 18‑month leadership development program that convenes emerging leaders from across North America’s food system to strengthen collaboration, deepen leadership skills, and advance systems‑level change through mentorship, peer learning, and action planning.
At DC Greens, Furstenberg-Beckman leads the organization’s Food Is Medicine portfolio, including Produce Rx, the District’s largest produce prescription program. Produce Rx reaches thousands of D.C. residents living with diet‑related chronic illness by increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables through healthcare partnerships. Furstenberg-Beckman brings more than a decade of experience in community health, nutrition, and public health to this work.
Her selection reflects the growing national recognition of Food Is Medicine strategies as a critical component of health equity and community wellbeing. Through the fellowship, Furstenberg-Beckman will join a network of leaders working to build a more resilient and equitable food system.
