DC Greens has been selected as a recipient of a $100,000 Impact Grant from Impact100 DC, a women-led philanthropic organization dedicated to improving lives across the greater Washington region through the power of collective giving. The grant will support DC Greens’ mission to advance health equity by building a more just and resilient food system and expanding access to healthy food across the District.
“DC Greens is honored to be selected for a 2026 Impact100 DC grant,” says Eric Angel, executive director of DC Greens. “This grant will help us further our mission of improving food access and health equity in the nation’s capital. This investment would not only preserve proven programs but also strengthen our capacity to address diet-related illness at scale. For an organization of our size, $100,000 is a highly significant grant—one that will directly translate into healthier lives for D.C. residents.”
DC Greens was one of three organizations selected to receive a 2026 Impact Grant following a competitive review process conducted by Impact100 DC members. This year’s additional grant recipients include DC KinCare Alliance, which supports grandparents and other kinship caregivers raising vulnerable children in the District, and School Justice Project, which works to ensure court-involved students with disabilities receive access to a quality education during incarceration and reentry. The 2026 finalist organizations also included First Generation College Bound and Grassroots Health.
Founded in 2021, Impact100 DC was created on a simple but powerful idea: when women pool their resources, they can make transformational investments in the nonprofits strengthening their communities. Each member contributes $1,000 annually, with 100 percent of membership dues directed to local grantmaking. The organization’s collective giving model has enabled hundreds of women from across the Washington region to play a direct role in identifying, evaluating, and funding organizations addressing critical community needs.
“This year marks an extraordinary milestone for our organization and our community,” says Francine Lamoriello, president of Impact100 DC. “Together, our members have now invested more than $1 million in local nonprofits that are tackling some of our region’s most pressing challenges—from educational opportunity and health equity to food access and family support. The grant comes at a critical time for DC Greens as the organization continues to expand and strengthen its Food Is Medicine and food access initiatives. Through programs such as Produce Rx, DC Greens connects residents managing diet-related chronic illnesses with fresh fruits and vegetables while partnering with healthcare providers to improve health outcomes across the District. The grant also supports The Well at Oxon Run, DC Greens’ community farm and wellness space in Ward 8. The Well, which is located at 300 Valley Ave. SE, will celebrate its fourth birthday on Saturday, June 28 from 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with a day of free programming open to the public.
