April is National Minority Health Month! DC Greens values health and wellness for all. In recognition of this month, here are six wellness and fitness spaces in D.C. that aim to enhance the well-being of diverse communities:
Synergy and Serenity
This wellness space is dedicated to holistic healthcare which explores alternative medicinal practices such as art therapy, meditation, spiritual cleansing practices, and more. Synergy and Serenity is also owned and operated by a Black woman! Visit Washington DC’s website also honors this location as a queer-owned business.

The DC LGBTQ+ Community Center
The Center aims to uplift and inspire community among D.C.’s LGBTQ+ residents, offering a variety of support and wellness services. The Center’s Wellness services include free, virtual yoga classes to those who RSVP!

BOOMBOX Boxing Club
This Black-owned gym combines boxing and music with their inspired “BEATBOX” sessions. BOOXMBOX offers classes for various experience levels, and they offer pricing options for one or multiple classes, monthly memberships, and private training sessions.

The Retail Village at Sycamore and Oak
Located in D.C.’s Congress Heights neighborhood, this retail center hosts 14 local businesses that are all Black owned. Wellness-centered spaces located here include Black Bella Spa and Wellness, Vaya Beauty, WeFitDC, and Glizzy’s Vegan Food Company.

Martha’s Table
Martha’s Table is a nonprofit organization that aims to increase access to quality education, health and wellness, and family resources and invest in the community. The organization also offers free, virtual fitness classes every weekday!

Bread for the City
Bread for the City is another nonprofit organization that believes D.C. residents should determine the future of their own communities. The organization holds free classes centered on fitness, mindfulness, and other areas of wellness at their Michelle Obama Southeast Center.
