(she/her) is DC Greens’ Food Is Medicine Manager, bringing her expertise in community health and food access in order to provide produce prescriptions to D.C. residents on Medicaid through DC Greens’ Produce Rx program. She also spearheads the Food Is Medicine work at DC Greens, working to integrate produce prescriptions into health systems through program development, policy analysis, advocacy, and evaluation.
Originally from Philadelphia, Furstenberg-Beckman has spent more than ten years designing, implementing, and leading community health initiatives, specifically centered around nutrition, food access, and HIV/AIDS prevention. While completing her Master of Public Health in Nutrition at UNC Chapel-Hill, she became a certified ACA healthcare navigator and dove deep into the complexities of the health care system. She is also a 2026 Food Leaders Fellow by Food & Society at the Aspen Institute.
With a robust background in public health, she brings her knowledge of the healthcare system into combating food injustices and health inequities in the District.
