(she/her) is a Produce Rx Coordinator who hails from Atlanta, GA. As a Food Studies scholar and access advocate, she is passionate about exploring the myriad ways that people feed themselves. Prior to joining DC Greens, Zavala taught Pre-K for 6 years and served in the Peace Corps in Nicaragua as an environmental educator. Her service of planting community gardens, joy for trying new foods and love of learning through travel inspired her to continue learning more about food systems at Chatham University’s graduate program for Food Studies in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In her free time, you will most likely find her meandering through farmer’s markets, cozied up with a food-centric memoir or sharing a meal with her loved ones.
